A Claim of Death
An arrogant astrologer once predicted that Akbar would soon die, based on planetary positions. Alarmed, the emperor grew fearful.
Birbal’s Bold Question
Birbal inquired, “And when will you die, O learned one?” The astrologer hesitated, fearing punishment. Birbal said, “See, even you cannot tell your own end. Then how can you predict the fate of others?”
The King’s Realization
Akbar realized that real knowledge is not guessing others’ lives, but using wisdom to guide one’s own. He thanked Birbal for freeing him from fear.
Lesson to Be Learned
The future is in the Lord’s hands. A devotee does not depend on astrology but surrenders to the will of Kṛṣṇa. As Śrīla Prabhupāda taught, “If you are sincere, Kṛṣṇa will protect you. No star can stop your spiritual advancement.”
