A Royal Loss
Akbar once lost a precious ring gifted by his beloved queen. Distraught, he summoned his ministers, but none could locate it.
Birbal’s Insightful Strategy
Birbal, observing the court carefully, said, “I shall recover the ring today.” He announced that the thief had a small piece of straw stuck to his beard. Startled, one man immediately brushed his chin.
The Guilt Revealed
Birbal declared, “There is the thief! His own fear gave him away.” Upon search, the ring was found with the man.
Lesson to Be Learned
The Supersoul seated in the heart reveals guilt through subtle signs. Even if no one sees, the Lord sees all. As Kṛṣṇa says in the Gītā, sarvataḥ pāṇi-pādaṁ tat — “I am everywhere, seeing with My eyes, acting through all hands.”
