A Humble Arrival
A farmer brought his donkey to court, saying, “This animal is stubborn and disobedient. I wish to teach it some manners.”

Birbal’s Role
Birbal calmly took the donkey and whispered something in its ear. Immediately, the donkey sat down quietly.

The Secret
Akbar asked, “What did you say?” Birbal smiled, “I reminded him that even kings serve someone. The donkey must also accept guidance.”

A Universal Truth
Everyone, from kings to animals, must serve their nature or master.

Lesson to Be Learned
Service is eternal. The soul is always a servant—either of illusion (māyā) or of Kṛṣṇa. Real peace comes when we recognize our position as jīvera svarūpa haya—nitya kṛṣṇa-dāsa—the living entity is an eternal servant of Kṛṣṇa.
