A Silent Season
During a year of drought, clouds gathered but gave no rain. Akbar lamented, “What use is a cloud that forgets to rain?”
Birbal’s Parable
He replied, “Just like a man who gains knowledge, yet never serves others with it.”
Akbar’s Understanding
“Then may we all rain where it is needed,” he said, looking out at the sky.
Lesson to Be Learned
Knowledge not shared in service is like a cloud without rain. The devotee receives wisdom to nourish others, just as the ocean gives water to the sky, and the sky sends it back to earth.
